Updated Sailing Blog - Sailing Villany from New York City to Miami

.... To make a long story short, the number of bridges and boats of all types increased steadily as we worked our way near Miami.  When we went through Ft. Lauderdale we passed tons of dockside restaurants and bars where you could just pull your boat up and join the party.  Looks fun!  We passed right by where Galit used to live on a Wellcraft powerboat.  She lived in Lauderdale for 6 years.  She seemed to be overwhelmed by how much it had changed and built up.  22 bridges later, we reached Miami into the Biscayne Bay where the water is very shallow – 2-4’ throughout most of the bay – and the channel is not marked well by the buoys in a couple of places.  A huge luxury yacht in front of us went aground after straying for just a second out of the channel.  We went aground softly and was able to push through easily and get back in the channel shortly after that. ...
